IN 2025, THE OLYMPIAD GAINED INTERNATIONAL STATUS
This is a significant achievement that reflects the high quality of organization, the level of tasks, and the recognition of the Olympiad by the professional and academic community. It also reflects the sustainable development and support for the country’s scientific potential. Granting international status not only highlights the prestige of the Olympiad but also opens new opportunities for expanding its participant geography and strengthening international scientific and educational cooperation.

The International Olympiad will also play a crucial role in shaping schoolchildren’s interest in the natural sciences, particularly in chemistry as a fundamental discipline in high demand across many sectors of the economy. Participation in the Olympiad motivates students to study the subject in-depth, while also developing their analytical abilities and scientific thinking.

AN INITIATIVE

LINKED TO A GREAT SCIENTIST’S NAME

Kanysh Imantayuly Satpayev was the founder of Kazakhstani science — an outstanding academician and world-renowned scholar in the fields of geology and metallurgy. The Olympiad named after him is not just a competition of knowledge, but a spiritual-scientific platform aimed at inspiring dedicated service to science, research, and the future of the country.

The host city — Zhezkazgan — is not accidental, as it is closely connected with Satpayev’s life and scientific journey. As part of the Olympiad, excursions are organized for participants to Satpayev’s homeland, sites of his scientific activity, museums of Zhezkazgan, as well as cultural evenings, theatrical, and musical programs. These activities not only broaden students’ horizons but also instill respect for history and culture. Learning about the life and legacy of the scientist becomes not just an example but a guiding light for the future.

Olympiad Format
The Olympiad is held for students in grades 9–11 and consists of two rounds: theoretical and practical. This structure helps foster a deep understanding of chemistry as a science
Theory
In the theoretical round, participants solve chemistry problems and logically complex tasks requiring deep analysis
Practice
The practical round involves conducting laboratory experiments where students demonstrate both knowledge and hands-on skills
